The Tulsa Livestock Auction, Tulsa, Oklahoma, reported 1,939 head of cattle selling May 20, compared to 1,549 head selling a week ago and 2,317 a year ago, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Ag Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, the steers were selling $6 to $8 higher. The heifers were trading mostly steady to $2 higher. Quality was plain through attractive. The demand was good. The slaughter cows were selling mostly steady to $1 lower. The slaughter bulls were steady, in a light test. A total of 317 was cows and bulls sold with 64% going to packers. The supply included 84% feeder cattle with 54% steers, 36% were heifers and were 10% bulls; 10% was slaughter cattle with 96% cows and 4% were bulls and 6% was replacement cattle with 64% bred cows and 36% were bred heifers. The feeder cattle supply weighing over 600 pounds was 21%. The Tulsa Livestock Auction will be closed May 27 in observance of Memorial Day.
