Producers Livestock, San Angelo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,257 head of cattle selling on July 23, compared to 883 head on July 16 and 1,058 head a year ago, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to the previous week, the steer and heifer calves and yearlings were selling $1 to $4 higher. The slaughter cows were weak and the slaughter bulls were not well tested. The stock cows and pairs were not well tested. The trading was fairly active and the demand was good. The supply included 80% feeder cattle with 47% steers, 47% were heifers and 6% were bulls; 16% was slaughter cattle with 93% cows and 7% were bulls; and 4% was replacement cattle with 91% stock cows and 9% were cow-calf pairs. The feeder cattle supply weighing over 600 pounds was 46%.
