The Woodward Livestock Auction, Woodward, OK, reported receipts of 7,585 head of cattle Oct. 12, compared to 4,900 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, OK.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $3 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $1 lower. Steer calves under 600 pounds and heifers under 550 pounds were steady to $3 higher, with heavier weights $1 lower. Demand was good for all classes.

Fill was average. Quality ranged from average to plain, with end attractive. The supply included 65% steers and 32% heifers, with 66% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. A total of 1,044 cows and bulls sold, with 55% going to packers.
