JANESVILLE, WI (AP)--A buffalo named Miracle that attracted widespread attention when it was born white has given birth to a second calf.
The calf, which was named Lady Miracle by owners David and Val Heider of rural Janesville, said the animal born Aug. 18 is light brown in color.
"The baby's doing fine, the mother's doing fine," David Heider said.
The mother buffalo, who gave birth to another calf in May of 1998, turned 6 years old Aug. 20.
Thousands of people flock to the farm every year to see Miracle, even though her coat is no longer white.
American Indians have cited a legend that says a buffalo born white will change color four times, becoming white again for a prophecy signaling unification of the races to be fulfilled.
