Crop producers and chemical applicators are encouraged to attend the In-depth Weed Management School, Feb. 10 and 11, at the Meeting Room of the Anderson County Extension office, in Garnett, KS.
Coffee and donuts will be available beginning at 9 a.m. The program will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. and run until about 3 p.m. both days. Credits are available for Certified Crop Advisors attending this workshop.
Registration cost is $20, which will include an excellent reference notebook and refreshments and lunch both days. To assist with planning and materials, a person must pre-register by Feb. 7 by calling the Anderson County Extension staff at 785-448-6826. The registration fee may be paid at the door.
The meeting will feature four K-State Research and Extension specialists: Gary Kilgore, crops and soils; Dallas Peterson, weed science; David Regehr, weed science, and Bob Wolf, application technology.
These specialists will be addressing a number of topics of interest to crop producers and chemical applicators. Topics include: plant growth and development; weed seedling identification; herbicide modes of action; soils and herbicides; weed control in corn, grain sorghum and soybeans; spray technology and nozzle selection; sprayer calibration and application methods; and controlling pasture weeds and brush.
