The South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 2,000 head Jan. 28, compared to 2,270 head last week and 1,700 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steer and heifer calves weighing less than 700 pounds traded mostly $1 to $3 lower. No trends available for heavier offerings due to limited comparable sales, but a weak undertone was noted. Buyer attendance good with light to moderate demand and active trade. The feeder supply consisted of 54% steers; 46% heifers, with 72% weighing over 600 pounds.
