America's best bison were sold at the 26th annual National Bison Association's Gold Trophy Show and Sale, the world's premier bison event.

A total of 167 bison head were purchased by breeders from all over the world, generating $650,000. The sale consisted of a live auction of premium breeding stock and a video auction, where tens of thousands of dollars were bid for the chance to buy a champion.

The highest selling animal was the People's Choice bull, from John Mulheren, Hollow Hill Ranch, bringing in $41,000. This year's grand champion male, from Casey Byrd, Buffalo Dance Bison, was sold for $24,000. Steve Wilson, Kentucky Bison Company, purchased his grand champion female from Casey Byrd, Buffalo Dance Bison, for $10,500.
