The Kansas State Grange announced Nathan Strawder and Nicole Damashek as the Youth Ambassadors for the coming year, at the 129th annual convention, held in Emporia.
They will represent Kansas at the National Grange Convention, in Fresno, CA.
Nathan is the son of Kristee and Roger Strawder, Burlington, and the grandson of Laverne and Merle Smith, Burlington. Nathan is a member of Otter Creek Grange No. 1439 and serves the office of gatekeeper and serves on several committees. He also is active in Boy Scouts of America.
Nicole is the daughter of Sheree and Terry Damashek, Burlington, and the granddaughter of Laverne and Merle Smith, Burlington. Nicole is a member of Otter Creek Grange No. 1439 and serves the office of steward and is the deaf activities chairperson. She was selected by her peers at school to be a part of Burlington Natural Helpers (a peer-mentoring group).
Nathan and Nicole have assisted with the Delaware River Valley Festival, served as counselors for junior Grange camp, participated in Relay for Life Cancer Walk and assist with several community service projects, in their community and Grange.
The Stiles are members of Pleasant view Grange No. 1459, in Jefferson County, and affiliate members of New Century Grange No. 2007, in Douglas County. He is the Kansas State Grange steward and serves as steward for Jefferson County Pomona Grange and assistant steward for Pleasant View Grange. He is employed by Shelly Electric, as a master electrician.
Jeanette was elected as the Kansas State Grange Flora and serves the office of lady assistant steward for Pleasant View Grange. She is the branch manager at Kaw Valley State Bank and Trust Co. The couple attends the Meriden United Methodist Church and are active in several community service projects.
