Angus breeders and commercial cattlemen interested in viewing quality Angus breeders are invited to participate in the second annual Missouri Angus Tour, in central Missouri, Aug. 25 to 27.
With headquarters in Columbia, and eight planned stops, the tour schedule is full of a wide variety of events. More than 25 Missouri Angus breeders will display cattle.
Registration and a welcome reception Friday, Aug. 26 will kick off the activities. The bulk of the tour is planned for Saturday, Aug. 26. Sydenstricker Angus Farms, Ragsdale Cattle Company and Circle A North are on the morning schedule. In the afternoon, tour-goers will take in the University of Missouri's College of Veterinary Medicine-Diagnostic Lab, Hotel and Restaurant Management-Food and Meat Science Center and Beef Farm. They also will visit the Missouri Cattlemen's Association headquarters. The tour will wind down Sunday, with stops planned at Weiker Angus Ranch and EE Robertson Farms.
Saturday's schedule includes three meals, a reception and a short program by Lewis Baumgartner, the "World's Worst Farmer." Breakfast and an inspirational service begin the day Sunday. After lunch and a short program about the history of Angus cattle in Missouri, the tour will conclude around 2:30 p.m.
Columbia and the surrounding area are home to an award-winning winery and many historical and tourist sites, as well as three colleges and universities.
