The disbursement of National Sheep Industry Improvement Center (NSIIC) funding via its intermediary, the National Livestock Producers Association (NLPA) Sheep and Goat Committee, took another step forward following the first full meeting of the NLPA Sheep and Goat Committee at the NLPA annual meeting in New Orleans.
The one-day meeting was used by the seven-member committee to finalize policies concerning the use and administration of the Sheep and Goat Fund, and to put the finishing touches on a loan application form, which should be available around Feb. 15, 2000.
The NSIIC signed an agreement with the NLPA last year to hasten the availability of NSIIC funding in the U.S. sheep and goat industries. The agreement allowed the NLPA to establish a revolving fund through which it will exclusively make loans for approved U.S. sheep and goat industry related projects.
The Sheep and Goat Fund was created to provide capital for increasing production and enhancing production efficiency, improving marketing efficiency and/or product quality, and promoting coordination and cooperation within the U.S. sheep and goat industries.
Individuals who have already contacted the Sheep Center will automatically receive an application once they're available. To request an application call NSIIC 303-236-2858, NLPA 800-237-7193 or visit the NLPA Web site at www.nlpa.org.
