The Sioux Falls sheep auction reported receipts of 500 head Jan. 5, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, SD.
Slaughter lambs were steady to $1 lower. Shorn slaughter ewes were steady to $2 lower. Feeder lambs were mostly steady. Supply included nearly 75% slaughter lambs, about 15% slaughter ewes and the balance mostly feeder lambs.
Slaughter lambs: Choice, end Prime, 2 to 3, No. 1 to 2 pelts, 133 to 134 lbs., 68.50 to 70.00. Wooled, Choice, end Prime, 2 to 3, 130 to 135 lbs., 65.25 to 67.50; 159 to 161 lbs., 63.50 to 64.25.
Slaughter ewes: Utility and Good, 1 to 2, 34.50 to 39.75. Cull, 1, 22.50 to 32.50.
Bred ewes returning to the country: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 173 to 228 lbs., 37.50 to 40.25.
Feeder lambs: Medium and large 1 to 2, 68 to 84 lbs., 82.00 to 84.00.
