The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, KS, reported receipts of 2,655 head of cattle Aug. 24, compared with 1,956 head last week and 2,733 head last year, according to the Federal-State USDA Market News Service, Dodge City, KS.

Feeder steers 400 to 550 pounds were steady; 550 to 700 pounds, $1 to $2 lower; 700 to 950 pounds, steady. Feeder heifers 350 to 500 pounds were steady; 500 to 650 pounds, $3 to $4 higher; 650 to 850 pounds, steady to $1 lower. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 78% 600 pounds and over, 21% 600 pounds and under and less than 1% cows and bulls. Feeder supply included 53% steers and 47% heifers.
