State Rep. Clay Pope, D-Loyal, has joined the Legislative Advisory Board of The Heartland Institute, a national non-profit "think tank," headquartered in Chicago, IL.

Pope will advise Heartland on articles and documents to include in PolicyBot, an Internet database of over 7,500 documents, from more than 300 think tanks and publishers. PolicyBot, available at www.heartland.org, is free of charge for elected officials and journalists.

Members of the Heartland Legislative Advisory Committee also submit essays and news reports for Heartland publication for elected officials; meet with their counterparts from other states, at special advisory events; and receive priority treatment for their research requests.

"I am pleased to be selected for a committee that promotes the legislative process," Pope said. "This will be a great resource for myself, as well as my colleagues, to help better represent our constituents."

The Heartland Institute is a 17-year-old, non-profit, non-partisan public policy research group. It publishes monthly Environment & Climate News, Health Care News and School Reform News, as well as The Heartlander and Intellectual Ammunition.
