Pratt Livestock, Inc., Pratt, KS, reported receipts of 7,484 head of cattle April 5, compared to 4,309 head last week and 8,128 head one year ago, according to the Federal-State USDA Market News Service, Dodge City, KS.

Compared to last, feeder steers and feeder heifers 300 to 600 pounds were $3 higher, in a light supply. Feeder steers 600 to 1,000 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Feeder heifers 600 to 900 pounds were mostly $1 to $2 higher, with instances of $4 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 75% 600 pounds and more, 23% 600 pounds and less and 2% cows and bulls. The feeder supply was composed of 55% steers and 45% heifers.
