New Mexico

Joan Park, Capitan, received the Ayudando Siempre Alli (always there helping) Award, from the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association (NMCGA), during the 2002 Joint Stockmen's Convention, in Albuquerque, according to Phil H. Bidegain, Tucumcari, NMCGA president.

"Park does not have the privilege of being directly involved in the industry, but she has the same principles and convictions that we do and is committed to stand with us and work for us," Bidegain said. "This award is our way of thanking her for her dedication and the long hours and many miles she has put in on our behalf."

Park and the agricultural groups became acquainted during the state legislature, where she has represented Lincoln County's interests for two terms as county treasurer. Her advice on tax and property issues has been invaluable, Bidegain said.

The Ayudando Siempre Alli Award, sponsored by Farmway Feed Mills, Las Vegas, is given each year to an individual who is not directly involved in livestock production, but whose efforts on agriculture's behalf have benefited the industry.
