The OKC West Livestock Market, Inc., El Reno, OK, reported estimated receipts of 600 head of cattle Dec. 13, compared with 4,784 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, OK.
Compared with last week, feeder cattle and calves were not well tested. A few loads sold, with a firm undertone. Demand was very good for the light receipts. A winter storm moved through the state over night, leaving up to six inches of sleet and snow making travel extremely difficult.
Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher, in a very limited test. Slaughter bulls were not tested. At total of 100 cows sold, with 15% going to packers.
Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, few, 575 to 600 lbs., 90.50 to 96.50; yearlings, 2 loads, 675 lbs., 96.75; few, 700 to 750 lbs., 91.00 to 94.50; few, 800 to 850 lbs., 85.00 to 87.00. Medium and large frame 2, yearlings, few, 800 to 875 lbs., 80.00 to 84.50.
Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, few, 535 to 550 lbs., 87.00 to 89.00; package, 600 lbs., 88.00; yearlings, 735 lbs., 86.75. Medium and large frame 2, calves, 400 to 500 lbs., 83.00 to 91.00; package, 525 lbs., 85.00.
Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1400 to 1475 lbs., 37.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1500 lbs., 38.00; high dressing, 40.00 to 41.00; low dressing, 37.50. Lean, 85 to 90%, 825 to 1025 lbs., low dressing, 31.50 to 33.00.
