The OKC West Livestock Market, Inc., El Reno, OK, reported estimated receipts of 2,000 head of cattle Jan. 17, compared with 5,669 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, OK.

Compared to last week, winter weather again was playing havoc with receipts, as another two to four inches of snow fell over night. Feeder steers were steady to $1 higher. The few feeder heifers were steady. Demand was good for the light receipts of feeders. Steer and heifer calves were not well tested. Bulk of the supply was average to attractive quality feeder steers. Flesh conditions were slightly thin to fleshy. Weighups were average to gaunt, few full. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. A total of 85 cows and bulls sold, with 55% going to packers. Supply consisted of 75% yearlings over 600 pounds, 21% calves and light yearlings under 600 pounds and 4% cows and bulls. Heifers comprised 34% of feeder and calf supply.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, package, 360 lbs., 126.50; package, 400 lbs., 114.00; few, 575 to 600 lbs., 92.50 to 93.00; 625 to 700 lbs., 88.25 to 93.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 88.25 to 93.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 87.00 to 89.75; 800 to 900 lbs., 83.00 to 88.00; few, 900 to 935 lbs., 83.50 to 85.50. Medium and large frame 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 90.50 to 94.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 88.00 to 91.50; 700 to 775 lbs., 84.00 to 87.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few, 300 to 400 lbs., 100.00 to 108.00; few, 450 to 500 lbs., 90.50 to 97.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 87.50 to 91.00; few lots, 625 to 675 lbs., 86.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 84.00 to 85.50; few, 840 to 875 lbs., 80.75 to 82.50. Medium and large frame 2, 600 to 700 lbs., 84.50 to 86.75; 700 to 750 lbs., 81.50 to 83.75; 825 to 875 lbs., 75.00 to 78.50. .

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1700 lbs., 41.00 to 42.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1600 lbs., 39.00 to 42.50; high dressing, 43.00 to 45.50; low dressing, 38.00. Lean, 85 to 90%, 900 to 1600 lbs., 39.00 to 39.50; high dressing, 41.00 to 45.00; low dressing, 35.00 to 38.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1300 to 1500 lbs., 52.00; high dressing, 58.00.
