The inventory of cattle on feed was 305,000 in Oklahoma Sept. 1, for feedlots with capacity of 1,000 or more head, down 2% from the previous month and 23% below Sept. 1, 2001, says the Oklahoma Agricultural Statistics Service.

Placements during August were 74,000, down 5% from one year ago.

Marketings of fed cattle during August were 78,000, up 10% from the same month last year. Other disappearance during August totaled 1,000 head.

Cattle and calves on feed for slaughter market in the United States for feedlots with capacity of 1,000 or more head totaled 10.13 million head Sept. 1, 2002.

Placements in feedlots during August totaled 2.22 million, 1% above 2001, but 9% below 2000.

Net placements were 2.18 million.

Marketings of fed cattle during August totaled 2.14 million. Other disappearance totaled 43,000 during August.
