Sales were confirmed on 5,800 head in western Nebraska and southwestern South Dakota feedlots Nov. 7, compared with none last week and 500 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, WY.

Trade was moderate. Compared to Monday's trade, live slaughter steers and heifers were steady; dressed basis, mostly $2 higher, compared to Friday's, Nov. 3, trade. Feedlots reported good inquiry and buyer demand. Seller interest was moderate to good. Week to date total includes 800 head of previously contracted or formulated cattle, and cattle sold earlier in the week, but data not collected day of sale.

Slaughter steers: 3,400 head, Select to mostly Choice, 2 to 3 (60 to 75% Choice), 1250 to 1375 lbs., 72.00 to 72.50, few, 71.00; dressed basis, 111.00 to 112.00, few, 110.00.

Slaughter heifers: 2,400 head, Select to mostly Choice, 2 to 3 (60 to 75% Choice), 1125 to 1250 lbs., 72.00; dressed basis, 111.00 to 112.00, few, 110.00.
