Newell Sheep Yards, Newell, SD, reported receipts of 6,193 head Dec. 9, compared to 6,127 head last week and 6,914 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, SD.

Compared to last week, feeder lambs were steady to $2 lower. Slaughter ewes were $1 to $2 lower. Offerings of feeder lambs included a string of 3,300 ewe lambs. Supply included 80% feeder lambs and 20% slaughter ewes. Offerings Dec. 16 included 800 to 1,000 replacement ewes and 2,000 to 3,000 feeder lambs.

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 56 to 58 lbs., 104.25 to 106.25 (105.57); 61 to 66 lbs., 102.00 to 106.50 (104.91); 74 to 79 lbs., 90.50 to 93.00 (91.26); 82 to 89 lbs., 87.00 to 94.00 (92.55); 95 to 99 lbs., 83.00 to 90.00 (88.65); 100 lbs., 83.00 to 86.00 (84.54); 110 to 114 lbs., 73.75 to 79.00 (75.87).

Slaughter ewes: 1,093 head, Utility and Cull, 1 and 2, 34.25 to 37.00.

Aged bucks: 39 head, thin, 19.25 to 21.50; 8 head, fleshy, 29.00.
