The Oklahoma National Stockyards weekly cattle summary totaled 4,775 head Jan. 5, compared to 4,105 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, OK.

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder cattle and calves were steady to $1 higher. Demand was very good for all classes. Calf condition continues a bonus for buyers as milk flesh at a minimum and most calves in medium to thin condition. Feeder cattle in medium to moderate flesh off wheat. Weigh-ups of both classes were gaunt to average.

Slaughter cows were $1 lower, except few Breakers were $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were $4 lower. Packer demand moderate for cows and light for bulls. A total of 415 cows and bulls sold, with 45% going to packers.

The supply consisted of 58% yearlings and calves over 600 pounds; 33% calves under 600 pounds and 9% cows and bulls. Heifers comprised 38% of feeder and calf supply.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 114.00 to 123.50 (116.93); 400 to 450 lbs., 109.00 to 113.00 (111.44); 450 to 500 lbs., 101.00 to 109.50 (106.78); 500 to 550 lbs., 95.00 to 103.50 (98.38); 550 to 600 lbs., 90.00 to 97.75 (94.21); 600 to 700 lbs., 88.50 to 97.75 (93.08); 700 to 800 lbs., 87.00 to 93.50 (90.64); 800 to 900 lbs., 84.00 to 88.50 (86.05); lot 910 lbs., 79.50. Holstein, large frame 2, 600 to 750 lbs., 66.00 to 67.50; 925 lbs., 57.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 94.00 to 106.00 (100.16); 400 to 450 lbs., 94.00 to 103.00 (98.76); 450 to 500 lbs., 87.75 to 93.00 (89.78); 500 to 600 lbs., 83.00 to 88.50, few 89.25 to 90.75 (85.60); 600 to 700 lbs., 82.00 to 88.00 (84.50); 700 to 750 lbs., 79.00 to 83.50 (81.64); few 800 to 900 lbs., 74.00 to 78.50 (76.10).

Slaughter cows: Breakers 75 to 80% lean 1075 to 1550 lbs., 37.00 to 39.50; high dressing 38.00 to 42.00; Boners 80 to 85% lean 900 to 1575 lbs., 36.00 to 39.00; high dressing 38.00 to 41.50; low dressing 32.50 to 36.50; Lean 85 to 90% lean 850 to 1550 lbs., 34.50 to 37.00; high dressing 38.00 to 43.00; low dressing 30.50 to 34.50; Light 85 to 90% lean 700 to 850 lbs., 29.50 to 31.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1300 to 2150 lbs., 44.00 to 47.00; high dressing 48.00 to 51.00; low drssing 40.50 to 44.00.

Replacement cows: Pretested for bangs, pregnancy and age. Medium and large frame 1, 2 to 4 year old 825- to 1100-lb. cows 2 to 4 months bred, average quality blacks, 520.00 to 590.00; 4 to 5 year old 875- to 1100-lb. cows 4 to 7 months bred, high quality blacks, 610.00 to 695.00; 5 to 8 year old 1050- to 1350-lb. cows 5 to 8 months bred, average quality, 520.00 to 590.00; 5 year old 1050- to 1200-lb. cows 2 to 3 months bred, average quality, 410.00 to 525.00; 10 year old 900- to 1300-lb. cows 6 to 8 months bred, average quality, 425.00 to 480.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 5 year old 1050- to 1200-lb. cows with 275- to 350-lb. calves, average quality, bred back, 825.00 to 870.00; 6 year old 950- to 1050-lb. cows with 150- to 250-lb. calves, average quality, 740.00.
