R-CALF USA President, Leo McDonnell, and David Domina, leading Omaha attorney, will be the featured speakers at an Independent Cattlemen of Nebraska / R-CALF fundraiser in O'Neill on May 21.
McDonnell is a co-founder of R-CALF USA (Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund - United Stockgrowers of America), and has been an active spokesman for cattle producers for over 30 years. Domina is the lead attorney in the ongoing Pickett vs. Tyson legal battle concerning a ban on packer ownership of cattle. The speakers will address that lawsuit, as well as current legislation and trade issues affecting the beef industry.
The fundraiser is being held in memory of long-time R-CALF Regional Director, Tom Whitehill. The event will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 410 W. Douglas St. on W. Hwy 20, beginning at 5 p.m. CST.
Several items have been donated for both silent and live auctions. A free hamburger feed is scheduled for that evening along with entertainment from Jimmy Hanson and The Good Ole Boys from Burwell.
