The mcAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, OK, reported receipts of 2,790 head Sept. 28, compared to 3,450 the previous week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, OK.

A good rainfall boosted stocker steer and heifer prices $2 to $4 higher. Feeder cattle sold fully steady. A very good attendance of buyers and demand was active on all classes. Conditions were thin to average. Quality was plain to mostly average. Heifers comprised 49% of feeder and calf supply.

Slaughter cows sold $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls sold mostly steady. Strong demand continued for pairs and bred cows. A total of 315 cows and bulls sold with 55% to packers.
