The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, OK, reported receipts totaling 1,500 head, compared to 1,350 the previous week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, OK.

Compared to the previous week, stocker cattle were steady. Feeder cattle sold firm to $1 higher. There was good attendance of buyers and trade was active on all classes. Weigh-ups were gaunt to average, with few full. Quality was mostly plain to average with new crop calves increasing in numbers. Receipts were comprised of 48% heifers and 42% steers. Feeder cattle weighing more than 600 pounds comprised 10% of the receipts. A total of 1,200 cattle sold May 15, and the market is expecting 300 head of cattle for the May 16 cow sale.
