WINCHESTER, Ind. (AP)--A farmer planting corn accidentally ran over his wife with a tractor, killing her, authorities said.

Lonnie Moore, 71, told Randolph County Sheriff Jay Harris that he saw Karen Moore, 54, walking toward the tractor April 18, and in the midst of turning the machine he noticed the "left side of the tractor go up."

He had run over his wife, who was bringing him his daily dose of vitamins near their Winchester farm, some 25 miles east of Muncie, police said. Harris said Moore's death was an accident.

Her 30-year-old daughter Lisa McConn said her mother grew up on a dairy farm in Ohio. Twenty-eight years ago when she married Lonnie Moore, she relished the opportunity to go back to the farm, McConn said.

"She's right out there by his side anytime he was out there in the field. She's a very devoted family woman, to her husband, her kids and her grandkids," McConn said.
