Don Kembel, Fort Morgan, was elected president of the Colorado Young Farmers Educational Association, at the organization's 31st annual Institute, in Glenwood Springs.

Kembel is a member of the Fort Morgan Chapter. Over 225 State members were in attendance, which was hosted by the Front Range and St. Vrain Chapters.

Other new officers for the 2000-01 year include: Ryan Draegert, Brush Chapter, northeastern vice president; Jeff Milburn, Fort Morgan Chapter, southeastern vice president; Artie Elmquist, St. Vrain Chapter, western vice president; Lelyn Larson, Platte Valley Chapter, secretary; Eldon Marrs, Front Range Chapter, treasurer; Trish Hergenreder, St. Vrain Chapter, reporter; and Dave Leiber, Northeastern Junior College, immediate past president.

Arnie Fiscus, Fort Morgan, a member of the Fort Morgan Chapter won the annual Spokesperson for Agriculture Contest. He will represent Colorado, in the national contest, in December in Cheyenne, WY.

The Arickaree and Platte Valley chapters received the bid to host the 2001 Institute, at a site to be determined.

The St. Vrain Chapter, in Longmont, was named the Outstanding Chapter for 2000. The Front Range Chapter, in Brighton and Fort Lupton, received the runner-up award, in the chapter competition.

The Front Range Chapter received the Outstanding Chapter Community Service Award.

Artie Elmquist, Longmont, a member of the St. Vrain Chapter, was recognized as the Outstanding Colorado Young Farmer from the Northeastern Region.

Jim Hergenreder, Longmont, a member of the St. Vrain Chapter, received the Outstanding Agri-business Award. Steve Sterkel, Erie, a member of the Front Range Chapter, was named the Outstanding Agri-Service Award winner.

Colorado has 40 Young Farmer Chapters.
