The Kansas Department of Human Resources, Labor Market Information Services, has released two publications, Workforce Planning Guides and Wage Surveys.

These publications are intended to assist planners in each of the five local areas in Kansas to obtain planning data. Workforce Planning Guides and Wage Surveys have been prepared for each of the five regions and each publication attempts to bring together the major elements of labor market information for each area into one document that will be published annually.

The planning guides present economic information, particularly in the area of employment and wages, and an occupational outlook for planning purposes is also highlighted. The wage surveys list wages for approximately 500 occupations found in each area.

The publications were prepared primarily for the local workforce investment boards to complement the requirements established under section 309 of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. This act requires consolidating workforce services and making those services available to all citizens. One of the major components needed to facilitate workforce development is accurate and timely labor market information.

These publications will assist other planners, educators and job seekers focus on workforce development issues.

Any request for a publication should be submitted to Labor Market Information Services, Kansas Department of Human Resources, 401 SW Topeka Blvd., Topeka, KS 66603.
