JC Livestock Sales, Inc., Junction City, KS, reported receipst of 1,277 head Sept. 30, compared to 696 the previous week and 1,500 one year ago, according to the USDA Market News Service, Dodge City, KS.

Compared to the previous week, feeder steers and heifers weighing 300 to 550 lbs., were $2 to $4 higher on a light test; 550 to 950 lbs., were $1 to $2 higher compared to last week's light receipts. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher. Trade was active and demand was good. Receipts included 68% weighing 600 lbs. and over, 30% weighing 600 lbs. and under and 2% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 68% steers and 32% heifers.
