JC Livestock Sales, Inc., Junction City, Kan., reported receipts of 1,566 head March 20, compared to 1,069 head last week and 1,296 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers weighing 300 to 650 pounds were $2 to $5 higher, and those weighing 650 to 950 pounds were $1.50 to $2.50 lower. Slaughter cows were $2 to $3 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts were 52% 600 pounds and over, 34% 600 pounds and under, 8% cow calf pairs, 1% bred cows, 4% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 64% steers and 36% heifers.
