AMMAN, Jordan (B)--The U.S. government has decided to extend a soft loan of $15 million to Jordan to be used for the purchase of U.S. wheat and animal feed, the official news agency Petra reported Dec. 17.

The agency quoted Jordan's ambassador to Washington, Marwan Muasher, as saying the loan would be repaid over five years.

Muasher also said the U.S. government had set for shipment in the next couple of months 200,000 tonnes of U.S. wheat to Jordan as aid worth a total $28 million.

Drought-stricken Jordan has already received the first batch of U.S. grain donations, a shipment of 100,000 tonnes of U.S. wheat.
