The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, MO, reported receipts of 12,000 head of cattle Jan. 10, compared to 5,299 head last week and 4,855 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, MO.

Compared to last week, steers under 500 pounds were $3 to $5 higher; heavier weights, mostly steady. Heifers were $2 to $4 higher. The supply was heavy. Steers made up approximately 60% and heifers 37% of the run. Offerings over 600 pounds totaled about 45%. Demand was very good.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 111.00 to 127.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 115.00, fancy, 118.00 to 123.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 92.00 to 105.00, fancy, 106.50 to 110.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 88.00 to 97.00, fancy, 98.00 to 100.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 84.00 to 92.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 81.75 to 86.50; lot, 1019 lbs., 73.85. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, including bulls, 400 to 500 lbs., 95.50 to 103.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 87.50 to 94.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 84.00 to 88.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 75.00 to 81.50. Holsteins, large frame 2, 430 to 500 lbs., 74.00 to 76.00; 550 to 770 lbs., 67.25 to 71.75.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 95.00 to 106.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 90.00 to 98.00, fancy, 99.00 to 101.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 87.50 to 96.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 81.00 to 89.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 76.50 to 85.90; 800 to 900 lbs., 75.25 to 83.25.
