Oklahoma's list of crop year 2000 wheat varieties was topped by Jagger for the third straight year.
The survey was conducted by the Oklahoma Agricultural Statistics Service and funded by the Oklahoma wheat Commission, in cooperation with the Oklahoma State University Department of Plant and Soil Sciences. Results were based upon nearly 2,800 positive reports from Oklahoma wheat growers.
Jagger was seeded on 38.1% of the acreage for the 2000 crop, up from 29.5% in 1999.
Wheat variety 2137 was seeded on 8.8% of the acreage, down from 9.2% last year. Custer was seeded on 8% of the acreage, down from 10.7% last year. wheat variety 2174 was seeded on 5.2% of the acreage, up from 0.8% last year. AGSECO 7853 was seeded on 2.9% of the acreage, down from 3.5% last year.
