The Highmore Auction Barn, Highmore, SD, reported receipts of 1,944 head of cattle March 14, compared with 2,886 head last week and 5,597 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, SD.

Offerings were lighter than expected, due to a snow storm. Compared to last week, steers and heifers were steady to $2 lower. Heifers were 72% of the run and steers 28%, with 87% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Large frame 1, 612 lbs., 93.00; 734 lbs., 82.75; 793 lbs., 80.90; 814 lbs., 80.10; 903 lbs., 74.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 640 lbs., 84.05. Large frame 1 to 2, 811 lbs., 80.40; 898 lbs., 72.75; 920 lbs., 74.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 536 lbs., 93.36; 631 lbs., 84.16; 735 lbs., 78.25; 834 lbs., 73.73; 859 lbs., 74.02; 918 lbs., 72.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 644 lbs., 83.27; 706 lbs., 77.00.
