The High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle summary for the week ending June 17 reported sales of 201,539 head, compared with 330,475 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, MO.

The report covered feedlot sales in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota.

Slaughter steers: Live basis, over 80% Choice, 5,961 head, 1259 lbs., 75.75; 65 to 80% Choice, 11,403 head, 1257 lbs., 75.24; 35 to 65% Choice, 39,735 head, 1221 lbs., 73.99; 1 to 35% Choice, 4,090 head, 1231 lbs., 73.61. Dressed basis, over 80% Choice, 980 head, 792 lbs., 121.01; 65 to 80% Choice, 15,814 head, 792 lbs., 120.47; 35 to 65% Choice, 19,479 head, 783 lbs., 120.17; 1 to 35% Choice, 1,100 head, 760 lbs., 115.40.

Slaughter heifers: Live basis, over 80% Choice, 2,662 head, 1149 lbs., 75.53; 65 to 80% Choice, 8,471 head, 1136 lbs., 74.79; 35 to 65% Choice, 43,068 head, 1103 lbs., 74.06; 1 to 35% Choice, 664 head, 1090 lbs., 73.86.
