A jubilant 4-H team from Hawaii carried home the division championship from the 2001 Northern International Livestock Exposition Livestock Evaluation competition, held for FFA and 4-H members, in Billings, as part of the 34th annual NILE Stock Show and Prc Rodeo.

A record 527 FFA and 4-H members from five U.S. states--Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, Kansas and Hawaii--participated in contests targeting livestock evaluation skills and agricultural sales ability. The contests are sponsored annually at the NILE by Stockman Bank, Worden, MT, and Northwest College, Powell, WY.

The Oahu County 4-H Club, from Haleiwa, HI, won first place in the livestock evaluation senior 4-H division. The Park City (Wyoming) 4-H Club won the junior 4-H division, and the Big Timber (Montana) FFA Chapter won the FFA division. The livestock evaluation competition had 428 total entries, representing 107 FFA and 4-H teams.

Winning the Ag Sales and Service Contest was the Cascade (Montana) FFA Chapter, followed by the Hysham (Montana) FFA Chapter, in second place. The Ag Sales & Service Contest featured 36 FFA and 4-H teams.
