The Goldthwaite sheep and goat auction reported receipts of 3,694 head March 17, compared with 3,813 head last week and 4,824 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, TX.

Compared to last week, feeder lambs were $2 to $3 higher. New crop slaughter lambs were $5 to $6 higher; old crop, steady. Slaughter ewes and bucks were steady. Spanish kids, nannies and billies were steady. Trade was active. Demand was good. Supply included around 45% sheep, with nearly 1,900 lambs.

Stock and feeder sheep: Lambs, medium and large frame 1, 25 to 40 lbs., 117.00 to 120.50; 40 to 60 lbs., 100.00 to 111.00; lot, 71 lbs., 105.00.

Slaughter sheep: Lambs, old crop, Choice and Prime, 2 to 3, 95 to 130 lbs., 97.00 to 105.00; 130 to 160 lbs., 74.50 to 78.00. New crop, Good and Choice, 1 to 3, 60 to 80 lbs., 107.00 to 110.00. Ewes, Good, 2 to 3, 41.00 to 43.50. Utility, 2 to 3, 38.00 to 41.00. Package, Cull, 35.50. Bucks, 32.50 to 43.00.

Stock and feeder goats: Spanish, young, nannies, 65 to 90 lbs., 45.00 to 50.00 per head. Pairs, 35.00 to 37.00 per head. Boer and Boer crosses, young, nannies, 65 to 90 lbs., 54.00 to 61.00 per head; individual, 95 lbs., 80.00 per head. Pairs, 44.00 to 61.00 per head.

Slaughter goats: Spanish, kids and yearlings, Choice and Prime, 15 to 30 lbs., 112.00 to 118.00; package, 28 lbs., 132.00; 30 to 60 lbs., 98.00 to 109.00. Nannies, 85 to 125 lbs., 36.50 to 45.00; fat nannies, 100 to 125 lbs., 47.00 to 56.00; thin, 39.00 to 43.00. Muttons, 85 to 145 lbs., 71.00 to 77.50. Billies, 80 to 150 lbs., 69.00 to 79.00. Angoras, nannies, 60 to 100 lbs., unshorn, 47.50 to 52.00.
