The Goldthwaite sheep and goat auction Aug. 18 reported receipts of 3,060 head, compared with 2,940 head last week and 4,886 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Services, Amarillo, TX.

Compared to last week, feeder lambs were steady to $2 lower. Stock ewes were steady. Slaughter lambs were $5 to $7 lower and slaughter ewes were $2 lower. Stock and feeder goats were $3 to $5 higher. Slaughter Spanish kids were $3 to $5 higher. Slaughter nannies were $4 higher. Slaughter billies and muttons were steady. Demand was good and trade was active. Supply included around 13 % sheep, with nearly 250 lambs.

Stock and feeder sheep: Feeder lambs, medium and large frame 1 and 2, 50 to 80 lbs., 87.50 to 95.50. Medium and large frame 2, 50 to 80 lbs., 80.00 to 87.50. Stock ewes, medium and large frame 1 and 2, 110 to 240 lbs., shorn and unshorn, 38.00 to 50.00; yearling ewes, package, 110 lbs., 52.00. Barbados lambs, medium frame 1 and 2, 30 to 50 lbs., 78.00 to 82.00; ewes, 65 to 110 lbs., 46.00 to 55.00, fancy, 50 to 75 lbs., 83.00 to 85.00; bucks, 90 to 130 lbs., fancy, 65.00 to 160.00 per head.

Slaughter sheep: Lambs, Choice and Prime, 2 and 3, 80 to 130 lbs., 84.00 to 87.00. Good and Choice, 1 and 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 79.00 to 84.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility, 2 and 3, 150 to 175 lbs., 29.00 to 36.00. Barbados lambs, Good and Choice, 1 and 2, 35 to 65 lbs., 65.00 to 77.00; ewes, 65 to 110 lbs., 37.50 to 46.00; bucks, 80 to 120 lbs., 45.00 to 52.00.

Stock and feeder goats: Spanish, kids, 15 to 30 lbs., 74.00 to 79.00; young nannies, 50 to 90 lbs., 32.50 to 51.00 per head; 60 to 80 lbs., 40.00 to 48.00; package, 68 lbs., 60.00. Boer cross, kids, 15 to 30 lbs., 76.00 to 86.00; young nannies, 80 to 120 lbs., 62.50 to 77.50 per head; 65 to 95 lbs., 41.00 to 57.50 per head; billies, 100 to 190 lbs., 55.00 to 65.00; fancy, 180 to 210 lbs., 130.00 to 150.00 per head.
