The Ft. Smith Livestock Auction, Fort Smith, AR, reported receipts of 1,129 head of cattke July 10, compared to 509 head last week and 1,028 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, AR.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $2 lower. Feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $4 higher.

The supply included 510 feeder calves, 453 feeder yearlings, 52 replacement cows, 98 slaughter cows and 16 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 45% English, 14% exotic, 40% Brahman cross and 1% Holsteins or other dairy breeds. The feeder supply included 50% steers and 50% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, over 850 lbs., high dressing, 39.00 to 43.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, over 850 lbs., 37.00 to 41.00; high dressing, 42.00 to 46.00; low dressing, 33.00 to 36.00. Lean, 85 to 90%, over 800 lbs., 36.00 to 40.00; high dressing, 41.00 to 44.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 51.00 to 54.00; high dressing, 55.00 to 58.00.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 350 lbs., 110.00 to 132.50 (119.00); 350 to 400 lbs., 105.00 to 125.00 (115.00); 400 to 450 lbs., 103.00 to 120.00 (113.00); 450 to 500 lbs., 99.00 to 109.00 (105.00); 500 to 550 lbs., 97.00 to 107.00 (100.00); 550 to 600 lbs., 90.00 to 99.50 (95.00); 600 to 700 lbs., 86.00 to 94.00 (90.00); 700 to 800 lbs., 77.00 to 85.00 (82.00). Replacement cows: Medium and few large frame 1, 2 to 7 years old, 850 to 1200 lbs., second and third stage, 560.00 to 700.00; short bred and open, 45.00 to 69.50; aged, bred, 38.00 to 43.00.

Cow-calf pairs: Medium and few large frame 1, 2 to 7 years old, 850 to 1200 lbs., with 200- to 300-lb. calf at side, 690.00 to 760.00 per pair.
