The Ft. Smith Livestock, Ft. Smith, Ark., reported receipts of 749 head March 29, compared to 237 head last week, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were mostly steady. Feeder steers and heifers were $3 to $7 higher. The supply included 381 feeder calves, 200 feeder yearlings, 19 replacement cows, 130 slaughter cows, 17 slaughter bulls, and 2 replacement bulls. The feeder supply consisted of about 40% English breed and English crosses, 30% exotic breed and exotic crosses, 30% Brahman and Brahman crosses, and 0% Holsteins and other dairy breeds. The feeder supply included about 55% steers and bulls with 45% heifers. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 55.00 to 59.50; high dressing, 60.00 to 64.00; low dressing, 50.00 to 54.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 51.00 to 55.50; high dressing, 56.00 to 60.50; low dressing, 46.00 to 50.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 48.00 to 52.50; high dressing, 53.00 to 57.00; low dressing, 43.00 to 47.50,

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 69.00 to 73.00; high dressing, 74.00 to 78.50; low dressing, 64.00 to 68.50.
