The Ft. Pierre Livestock Auction, Fort Pierre, SD, reported receipts of 3,482 head of cattle April 6, compared to 2,145 head last week and 3,538 head one year ago, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, SD.

Compared to last week, feeder cattle were steady to $2 higher. No trends were applicable on slaughter cows and bulls. Strong demand was shown for the attractive supply. Supply included 95% feeder cattle and 5% slaughter cows and bulls. Steers made up 61% of the run and heifers 39%, with 81% of the feeder cattle over 600 pounds.
