PARIS (B)--French Environment Minister Dominique Voynet said July 12 she favored pulling out the 3,000 hectares of maize containing less than 1% of GMOs planted in southwest France.

"We have to pull out the hectares sown with contaminated maize to show that we will not spread seed contaminated by GMOs authorized or not authorized," the Minister said, presenting the position of her "Ministry."

The government confirmed June 23 the presence of GMOs in conventional maize seed imported from the United States.
