The Ft. Smith Livestock, Ft. Smith, Ark., reported receipts of 1,141 head April 12, compared to 565 head last week and 350 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $4 higher. Feeder steers and heifers were $3 to $5 higher. The supply included 538 feeder calves, 400 feeder yearlings, 40 replacement cows, 139 slaughter cows, 23 slaughter bulls, and 1 replacement bull. The feeder supply consisted of about 40% English breed and English crosses, 30% exotic breed and exotic crosses, 30% Brahman and Brahman crosses, and 0% Holsteins and other dairy breeds. The feeder supply included about 55% steers and bulls with 45% heifers. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 57.00 to 61.50; high dressing, 62.00 to 66.50; low dressing, 52.00 to 56.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 55.00 to 59.50; high dressing, 60.00 to 64.00; low dressing, 50.00 to 54.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 51.00 to 55.50; high dressing, 56.00 to 60.00; low dressing, 46.00 to 50.50. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 49.00 to 52.50; high dressing, 53.00 to 58.00; low dressing, 44.00 to 48.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 71.00 to 76.50; high dressing, 77.00 to 81.00; low dressing, 65.00 to 70.00.
