The Ft. Smith Livestock Auction, Fort Smith, AR, reported receipts of 834 head of cattle Sept. 3, compared to 1,260 head last week and 658 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, AR.

The supply included 361 feeder calves, 386 feeder yearlings, 29 replacement cows, 42 slaughter cows, 16 slaughter bulls, and no replacement bulls. The feeder supply was about 30% English breed and English crosses, 35% exotic crosses, 35% Brahman crosses and no Holsteins or other dairy breeds. The feeder supply consisted of 50% steers and bulls and 50% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, over 850 lbs., high dressing, 42.00 to 45.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, over 850 lbs., 38.00 to 40.00; high dressing, 41.00 to 46.50; low dressing, 30.00 to 34.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1100 to 1700 lbs., 52.00 to 54.50; low dressing, 45.00 to 46.50.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 350 lbs., 110.00 to 129.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 105.00 to 122.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00 (102.00); 450 to 500 lbs., 95.00 to 103.00 (98.00); 500 to 550 lbs., 88.00 to 96.00 (92.00); 550 to 600 lbs., 84.00 to 92.00 (89.50); 600 to 700 lbs., 82.00 to 90.00 (85.00); 700 to 800 lbs., 80.00 to 88.00. Medium and large frame 2, including bulls, 300 to 400 lbs., 99.00 to 109.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 89.00 to 99.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 77.00 to 87.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 71.00 to 81.00. Medium and large frame 3, 300 to 400 lbs., 88.00 to 98.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 78.00 to 88.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 75.00 to 85.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 60.00 to 70.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 450 lbs., 95.00 to 103.00 (98.00); 450 to 500 lbs., 87.00 to 95.00 (90.00); 500 to 600 lbs., 83.00 to 91.00 (87.00); 600 to 700 lbs., 78.00 to 86.50 (82.00). Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 84.00 to 94.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 76.00 to 86.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 72.00 to 82.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 68.00 to 77.00. Medium and large frame 3, 300 to 400 lbs., 75.00 to 83.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 68.00 to 75.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and few large frame 1 and 2, 2 to 7 years old, 850 to 1400 lbs., short bred and open, 46.00 to 50.50; aged, bred, 32.50 to 42.00.
