The St. Joseph feeder pig auction reported receipts of 300 head Dec. 21, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, MO.

Compared to last week, feeder pigs under 60 pounds were $4 to $5 lower per head, with 60-pound pigs steady to $4 higher. There were reduced receipts and no test on most weight groups. Cold weather and the holidays were disrupting the feeder pig and slaughter hog markets. A bullish Cold Storage Report was released Monday, Dec. 20. June futures now are on top of $48 per cwt. Feeder pigs are scarce. The abundant supplies of corn still are in first hands.

Feeder pigs: U.S. 1 to 2, 45 to 46 lbs., 29.00 to 32.50; 56 lbs., 34.50; 65 to 68 lbs., 38.00 to 42.00.
