WASHINGTON (B)--USDA's chief economist offered details May 24 on the department's main proposal for making the new mandatory livestock price reporting program more transparent to producers to better help them negotiate sales.

Keith Collins told reporters he now believed there is plenty more pricing information USDA can make public while still maintaining confidentiality for buyers by taking a "broader perspective of the market."
