Receipts of cattle at Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., feeder cattle auction, July 12, totaled 1,657 head, compared with 2,317 last week and 2,829 last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Dodge City, KS.

Compared with last week, feeder steers and heifers 300 to 1,000 pounds were not enough in any class for a market test, but in an extremely limited supply, firm to $3 higher. Slaughter cows were weak to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Trade was very active. Demand was very good. Receipts included 65% 600 pounds and over, 20% 600 pounds and under and 15% cows and bulls, with 250 head early. Feeder supplies included 47% steers and 53% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Boners and Breakers, 75 to 85% lean, few, 46.00 to 50.00 (47.50). Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 39.00 to 45.50 (41.43); low dressing, 30.00 to 38.75 (36.86).

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 54.00 to 58.25 (56.81); low dressing, 41.00 to 53.25 (48.19).
