Receipts at Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., totaled 2,396 head Jan. 3, compared with 472 head last week and 2,931 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Dodge City, KS.

Compared with two week's ago, feeder steers 300 to 400 pounds, in an extremely light supply, were $12 to $14 higher; 400 to 600 pounds, $4 to $8 higher; 600 to 950 pounds, $3 to $6 higher. Feeder heifers 300 to 550 pounds were $5 to $8 higher; 550 to 900 pounds, $3 to $5 higher. Slaughter cows were $1 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls was steady. Trade was very active. Demand was very good. Receipts included 78% 600 pounds and over, 15% 600 pounds and under and 7% cows and bulls, with 250 head early. Feeder supply included 45% steers and 55% heifers.
