Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., reported receipts of 2,913 head Aug. 17, compared to 2,616 head last week and 3,231 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers and heifers at 600 pounds and under, in a limited supply of Medium and large frame 1, were $3 to $5 higher, steers 600 pounds and over were steady, and heifers 600 pounds and over were weak to $2 lower. Trade was very active, demand was very good for cattle 600 pounds and under, and moderate for cattle 600 pounds and over. Slaughter cows were firm to $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady, the bulk of the supply mostly low dressing. Receipts included 64% 600 lbs., and over, 29% 600 pounds and under, 7% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 60% steers and 40% heifers.
