The Cattlman's Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, TX, Sept. 21, reported receipts of 2,470 head cattle and calves, compared to 2,038 head last week and 2,735 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, TX.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds were $2 to $4 lower; over 600 pounds, $2 lower. Slaughter cows were mostly $2 lower. Trade was fairly active. Demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were medium and large frame 1 and 2 350- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 91% and slaughter cows and bulls 9% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 47% of the run and heifers 43%. Steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled around 38% of the supply.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 3 to 6 years old, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred, 530.00 to 580.00 per head; aged, 975 to 1250 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred, 450.00 to 510.00 per head.
