The Cattleman's Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, TX, Oct. 16, reported receipts of 4,158 head of cattle, compared to 3,410 head last week and 4,100 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, TX.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 600 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Heifers under 600 pounds were steady. Feeder steer and heifer yearlings over 600 pounds were $1 to $2 higher; over 600 pounds, steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were medium and large frame 1 and 2 350- to 750-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 90% and slaughter cows and bulls 10% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 52% of the run and heifers 48%. Steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled around 50% of the supply.
